Want to Have a Better Period AND Help Women Everywhere Get Access To Safe Period Care?

That’s the question, here’s my answer..

YES! Of course I do, and surely we all do. Periods, though magical in their own way, can sometimes SUCK. Here I am counting down the days of its arrival, just to begin to count the days of its departure. It’s an endless cycle (pun somewhat intended, haha) that realistically can be a drag.

On a conscious end, I like to consider the reality of the situation. As females we are blessed to be able to not only give birth, but also detox our inner workings every month. Who am I kidding, this is ridiculously magical – powerful and not to be taken for granted. BUT – sometimes, the other side of reality kicks in. The cost, the waste and the overall general uncomfortable products we have to ‘deal with’ in exchange of this magical cycle.

I hadn’t shared this publicly until now, but years ago I did a lot of research on the tampon industry and quickly started a journey to shift what I allowed into my body (as this was already set in motion through various forms of detoxing – people, foods, etc that no longer resonated with my being or served a higher purpose). I didn’t want to have to insert all of these chemicals & toxins into myself, nor did I believe it was smart to create so much toxic waste for our environment – so I searched & searched, tested & tested and came to find a few options that suited both my heart & our world.

Honestly, the only thing I have yet to try are reusable pads or applicators – but that’s just because (as I told my spouse recently) long-term I don’t see the point as do not see myself personally as a pad or tampon user.

Which Brings Me To The Miraculous Toxic-Free Menstrual Cup Finding

One day I was introduced to menstrual cups and I thought, ‘hey, why not?’ And that month changed the game for me. Since making the shift from monthly purchases to a cup I have a few things that I am grateful for: Saving money monthly (we all know how expensive that time of the month can be), less worry about leakage, simplicity in knowing you’re taken care of and the ease of usage.. and that’s just what I can think of at the top of my head!

The only thing is, I had a few minor complaints about the cups I had tried in the past as they all did the job, but never felt like the perfect ‘fit’ – both literally and metaphorically speaking. I can stand by saying that I love cups and I will probably be using them as my go to from here on out, but is there one out there that could solve the minor issues I had found as an individual?

Then I Came Across VOXAPOD

Not even sure how, but boy (or GIRLLL) am I happy I did! As I read through their Kickstarter I just knew this was something I wanted to try. Everything from their design and consciousness around diversity amongst our body types, to their partnership with Femme International in which every purchase fuels their social mission to meet the period care needs of girls in the developing world, so they can stay in school. I am in love.

I wrote the founder and can not put into words just how much her words & works resonated with me, and for that very reason alone I felt compelled to share, support and stand behind this product.

If you would like to be entered for a chance to win your very own VOXAPOD, I will be doing a giveaway in collaboration with the company! All you have to do is share your story in the comments here below. What are some personal experiences you’ve had with cups, or your period for that matter – would you like to give VOXAPOD a try?  Let us know and consider this your entry! Winners will be chosen May 15th and gifts will be distributed Oct/Nov upon VOXAPOD’s first production run.

Here’s to all you radical females changing the world! ✨✊🏼

Anyhow, here are a few tidbits I wanted to share with you all straight from the VOXAPOD Kickstarter page!

For all shapes and sizes

VOXAPOD™ cup was innovated by a woman, with the final design being informed by a diverse test group of women–together, we thought of everything! It’s compact and one of the shortest cups on the market, with two sizing options to accommodate your body and flow.

Note: you’ll be able to select your size/s when the campaign ends, but there is a sizing guide below for your reference!

All the right feels

The world’s most comfortable menstrual cup. It’s satiny, soft, flexible and moldable, it folds and inserts like a tampon, but works better and lasts longer.

It’s not made of cotton fibers—which means rather than working against your natural fluids, it just slides right in and moves comfortably with your body. No more itchy weirdness or dry, uncomfortable “applications”. Most women say it’s so comfortable they can’t even feel it.

Prevents leaks and stays put

Where other cups sometimes have a hard time opening up properly to form a seal, VOXAPOD has a reinforced center that gives you a fool-proof seal with every insertion. No more leaks or ruining your favorite pair of undies. The bell-shaped curves of the cup allow it to stay put and contour with the natural movements and shape of your body.

Easy, comfy removal

The unique pinch grips at the base of the cup align with the suction holes, making the seal easy to break, and allowing the cup to glide right out.

There’s a stem at the base, so you don’t have to worry about it getting ‘lost’ in there. The base is rounded and the stem is thin and flexible. It can be trimmed or removed, so there is never any poking ‘down there’.

Here’s how VOXAPOD cups can redefine your month–and your lifestyle.

More time and flexibility

The cup contains, rather than absorbs your period fluid, collecting up to 5x more than a tampon, and giving you up to 12 hours of leak-free protection–most women can empty it once in the morning and again before bed.

“I was amazed that I could keep it in overnight (all 8 or 9 hours), even on my first and second days, typically the heaviest. This was the first time this has happened with a menstrual cup. I’ve always had to wake up in the middle of the night to empty it. Not with VOXAPOD!” -Ashley C.

Silicone is sanitary

All VOXAPOD cups are made in the United States using only 100% FDA-approved medical-grade silicone.

Because they are naturally hygienic, it eliminates the nasty bleaching and chemical process–meaning there’s no more dryness, odors, strings, padding or disrupting your natural pH balance.

With proper care, VOXAPOD™ cups last for several years. That means hundreds of dollars saved for you—and no more “emergency” pad or tampon trips to the store.

Less itchy weirdness

Satiny, soft, flexible and moldable, VOXAPOD cups aren’t made of cotton fibers—which means rather than working against your natural fluids, they just slide right in and move comfortably with your anatomy. No more dry, uncomfortable “applications” for you.

End of ‘stinky’ odors

To make them appear more “cleanly,” most tampons are bleached and are known to contain toxins that lead to adverse health risks. VOXAPOD cups eliminate this process, meaning no more dryness, stinky odors (yuck), strings, padding or interrupting your natural pH balance.

Reduce waste

In the US alone, 12 billion pads and 7 billion tampons are thrown into our waterways and landfills every year. The average woman menstruates for 38 years, tossing roughly 12,000 used disposables in her lifetime. Making the change to reusable period care is good for everyone, including the planet.

I’ve never liked using tampons as they are, obviously, toxic, and often times made my cramps worse. I’ve been on the pad bandwagon ever since my first period and I do enjoy it, especially that now there exists toxic-free, organic, cotton pads. But the issue still remains, it’s a monthly cost that I’d rather not have! I tried the Diva Cup because it’s obviously the best alternative (& the only of this kind I THOUGHT existed…) and gave it a try. It didn’t work out so well, and trust me, I kept trying! I want to give this other method a go and perhaps I just didn’t have the right cup for me so I’d love to give this one a try! xo

I totally resonate with you on this one, Amanda! Seriously so tough sometimes having that monthly cost rack up, and on the other side personally I just don’t want to sit in my own blood throughout the day as it’s an uncomfortability I rather avoid. That, and of course the breeding ground for bacteria, etc after such a successful detox – no thanks! I actually had tried Diva Cup as well and had a glimpse of what the cup world could offer but also did not think it was the right cup for me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! xx
